Dr Luz Carime Gil
Dr. Luz Carime Gil joined the School of Materials as a Postdoctoral Researcher in December 2020. Her work focuses on tailoring shape, size, and surface chemistry of nanoparticles to fabricate photonic structures via the self-assembly process.
Luz completed her PhD in 2020 in the area of Photonic Materials at the Instituto de Ciencias de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM-CSIC). Her PhD focused on the synthesis of carbonaceous materials to be used as templates for the construction of photonic structures, which resulted in a variety of silicon and carbon-silicon architectures with a broad photonic response. Dr. Gil has worked in other areas of advanced materials, including optoelectronic devices and sensors, as well as magnetoresistive composites.
